On Friday, August 30th 2019, the 'France at Home' market came to Southsea's Palmerston Road precinct with their market stalls selling produce form France (in particular, Normandy and Brittany).
We arranged with them to have a stand there and were given a spot outside Southsea library in a spot between the vintage prints and postcards/music stall and the street food stall, selling Merguez baguettes, garlic potatoes & tartiflette to name but a few...
We spoke with many locals and tourists about tourists and a few brought up the current political climate.
I will announce here that both the cities of Caen and Duisburg have committed to continuing our friendship whatever the outcome of the current political issue prevalent our country. Caen re-signed the twinning treaty in November 2017 and next year we celebrate 70 years of twinning with Duisburg.
Here are some photos I took of the various stalls. I spoke with the market leader and she has said she will definitely be back to somewhere in Portsmouth and I mentioned a Sunday might be a good day... so watch this space...
