Today I laid a wreath on behalf of Caen-Portsmouth Twinning on Southsea's D-Day Memorial. This year marks 74 years since D-day.

The ceremony at the D-day Memorial was followed by a further ceremony at the newly reopened D-day Story Museum on Southsea Seafront.

Here the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire and the French Consul General came together to inaugurate the new memorial wall in front of the Museum.

This wall will enable those who had relatives who fought during the D-day landings to buy a plaque in their relatives name. This plaque will then be placed on the wall.

The Portsmouth News has written an article on the commemorations here.

You can see further images of the D-day commemorations here in Portsmouth here.

I streamed the ceremony at the D-day Story live of Facebook. The recording of the stream can be seen here.
