The Lord Mayor's Rural and Seaside Show

We had a stall at the Lord Mayor's Rural and Seaside Show over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend this year. We were there to promote the twinning links between Caen, Duisburg and Portsmouth.

We opened up our stall to the Haifa-Portsmouth Friendship Committee who joined us on Saturday for a time and for a while on Monday. As Vice-Chair of Shaping Portsmouth's Portsmouth Ambassadors' Steering Committee I also invited some Ambassadors to come along and raise awareness of the Portsmouth Ambassadors Scheme.

We would like to thank the Portsmouth City Council Events Team in particular Sarah Day, Lydia Mellor and Claire Looney for making it possible for us to be there.

My thanks go to committee members Jean Barrow, Ann Brazier and Stephen Kerr for their support. Many thanks to Fiona Brown, Andrew Barrow, Olivia Quinn, Steve White, Susan Johnson, Carol Powell and Marissa Armstrong of Portsmouth Ambassadors for all their help too.

We spoke to many people from the city and the surrounding area, also to many tourists from all over. People from China, Japan, Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Italy all came to our stall, attracted by our flags, along with tourists from all over the UK as well.

We promoted Portsmouth's links with France, Germany, Israel, the USA, China, Australia and Japan. We had on the stall information leaflets on our twin towns and international links along with the Portsmouth Visitor Information Centre's mini guides to Portsmouth in English, French and German.

We will be at the Southsea International Kite Show in August on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th on Southsea Common too, come and find us there...
