The weekend of April 8th to 9th saw a friendly invasion by some Caen-based business people and a Caen-based band.
We, as a committee had a presence. On our table we ran a free competition to win an Easter Egg. Many visitors to our stand participated and took part.
The aim of our competition was to find where in France the egg had been hidden.
It had in fact been hidden in the town of Elbeuf, Normandy.
There were 63 different guesses made. The winner of the egg was the person whose guess was nearest to Elbeuf. This person has been informed by SMS and their egg has been collected from Portsmouth City Museum.
Representing the business and people of Caen were:
* La biscuiterie "Sablés d'Asnelles" with their traditional biscuits.
* Catherine Blanquet from 'Tutti Planti' who produces herself; 'sirops', conserves and "pâtes de fruits' among other products.
* Safran de Normandie who had many natural products including Yuzu, classed as a new wonder food.
* La biscuiterie Jeanette 1850 who had a wide range of Madeleines.
accompanied by a cidrerie from Normandy supplying many Norman products along with cider, such as teurgoule.
They were all heartily accompanied by two of a Caen-based quartet of musicians going under the name of Jahen Oarsmen.
The gallery below shows some images of the stands on Saturday inside the Marquee and on Sunday out in the castle courtyard, in the sunshine.
