On June 11th 2016, a group of visitors from Caen arrived for a day's visit sightseeing around Portsmouth. The company ACSM Tours in Anguerny (Calvados) organised the visit with around 20 people of all ages from the Calvados département in Normandy.
I had the great pleasure of accompanying the visitors on their tour, giving them the French language version of the tour.
The tour included a visit to Portsdown Hill then Langstone Harbour to see the remaining caisson whose back was broken before it left for the Mulberry Harbour to be constructed at Arromanches after D-Day. This was followed by a drive along the sea front with the sights in full view and time to visit the D-day Museum itself with its Overlord Embroidery.
Afterwards a further short tour towards Gunwharf Quays and a visit up the Emirates Spinnaker Tower. Dinner at the Old Custom's House followed by a return to the Ferry Terminal for the return trip.
Merci d'être venus et à la prochaine visite!
