Investiture (Intronisation) du maire, 2018
On Tuesday May 15th 2018, members of the Caen Committee along with the Duisburg Committee and representatives from our partner city of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; Haifa, Israel; Zuhai, China and Sydney Australia. Came together with representatives from 'Le comité de jumelage Caen-Portsmouth' and 'Portsmouth Freunde', Duisburg. The Oberbürgermeister of Duisburg, Sören Link and his assistant and M. Pascal Pimont representative of the Mayor of Caen, were all witnesses to the making of the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth 2018, Cllr. Lee Mason.
Le mardi 15 mai 2018, des membres du comité de Caen et du comité de Duisbourg se sont réunis avec les représentants du « Comité de jumelage Caen-Portsmouth » et de « Portsmouth Freunde » (Duisbourg) ainsi que ceux de nos villes partenaires : Portsmouth (Rhode Island), Haïfa (Israël), Zhuhai (Chine), et Sydney (Australie). Sören Link, maire de Duisbourg, accompagné de son assistant et M. Pascal Pimont, porte-parole du maire de Caen, ont assisté à l’investiture du maire de Portsmouth de 2018, le conseiller municipal Lee Mason.

We were hosted for lunch by the Lady Mayoress Mrs. Sylvia Mason in the Lady Mayoress' Parlour.
La mairesse, Sylvia Mason, nous a accueillis dans la salle de réception pour le déjeuner.
Following the lunch reception, a series of photographs were taken on Portsmouth's Guildhall steps of the various partner city representatives along with the full city council councillors.

We were then taken on a visit of the SIMEX exercise taking place at Fraser Range in Eastney. This emergency disaster simulation helps train professionals and volunteer to respond as quickly and efficiently as possible to disaster situations. This was also attended by members of a voluntary ambulance service in Caen and the ADRASEC from Caen (volunteer amateur radio enthusiasts who jump into action in the event of an emergency situation), plus the chief of the Fire Service in Duisburg and his assistant.
Nous avons ensuite assisté à un exercice de simulation au Fraser Range à Eastney. Cette simulation de catastrophe et de situation d’urgence sert à préparer les professionnels et bénévoles à réagir aussi rapidement et efficacement que possible. Un service ambulancier bénévole et l’ADRASEC de Caen (radioamateurs bénévoles qui interviennent en cas de situation d’urgence) étaient également présents, ainsi que le chef des sapeurs-pompiers de Duisbourg accompagné de son assistant.

The assembled dignitaries were then taken for a tour of D-Day Story with Museum Curator Andrew Whitmarsh. There followed a tree planting ceremony where M. Pascal Pimont and The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth planted an olive tree, gifted to the city of Portsmouth by the City of Caen in the newly planted Caen Peace Garden in the grounds of D-Day Story Museum.
Les dignitaires présents ont pris part à une visite du musée « The D-Day Story » en présence du conservateur Andrew Whitmarsh. Une cérémonie s’en est suivie, durant laquelle M. Pascal Pimont et le maire de Portsmouth ont planté un olivier dans le nouveau jardin Caen Peace Garden, situé sur le terrain du musée. L’arbre était un cadeau de la ville de Caen.
The official celebratory dinner took place in the Lord Mayor's Banqueting Suite.
Speeches were given by all cities present. Celebrating Portsmouth's International Links. This dinner was funded by the Lord mayor himself and supported by the University of Portsmouth's Sailing Club and Hockey Club.
Le dîner de célébration s’est déroulé dans la salle des banquets du maire.
Les représentants de chaque ville ont prononcé un discours pour célébrer les relations internationales de Portsmouth. Ce dîner était financé par le maire et soutenu par les clubs universitaires de voile et de hockey de Portsmouth.
