Visit from Caen to Portsmouth's Victorian Festival of Christmas

On Saturday December 2nd 2017, 56 people from Caen came to Portsmouth with the Friendship Committee and its leader from Caen Mme Claudine Cerisier. A further 46 came from the Caen region including Ouistreham and Saint Aubin Sur Mer with Mme Brigitte Poirer, a member of the Caen-Portsmouth Friendship Committee in Caen who works in partnership with our travel agency partner in Calvados 'Le Village des Sens'

They all left on the evening ferry from 22:45 on the Saturday evening. Mme Poirier remained here in Portsmouth to welcome the group coming in on the Sunday. On the Sunday, a further 22 came over accompanied by a tourist guide from Caen to visit the Festival on Sunday.

Both days including a visit to the Toby Carvery for a very British experience of a Full English Breakfast, they spent the morning and lunchtime at the Victorian Festival of Christmas before heading into Portsmouth's City Centre for a bit of shopping before heading to 'The Fleet' near the Guildhall for a pub dinner including the opportunity to have the traditional 'Fish and Chips'.

Well over a hundred people from Caen visited us for the Victorian Festival of Christmas this year. A huge increase on the 30+ in the first year we organised for them to come last year.

The galleries below are of some of the images taken over the week-end this year.
