Day 3 started off quietly and calmly with breakfast and checkout from the hotel.
Just after 11 am some vintage cars turned up to whisk the Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress off into the 'Place du théâtre' where the city was holding its 'Croq'British' food festival and display of things British.

In the marquee there was a stand 'manned' by the Caen version of the Caen-Portsmouth Friendship Group, two stands selling British cakes, biscuits and tea, and other foods, another selling vintage clothes, one promoting a vintage car club, a demonstration booth for food preparation and a singer to serenade us.
Were were treated to a vast array of 'British' food or a French variation thereof. Scones, butter and jam, followed by pie and chips and even an offer of a full English breakfast.
This was followed by a demonstration of using British Ingredients (mint sauce idea with lamb) but definitely putting a French spin on it. The lamb was served 'tartare' not something the British would usually consider!

The afternoon followed and we visited the Caen Christmas Market and the City Hall. Some of us also went on the big wheel.
Dinner in the restaurant 'Le Gastonome' followed by a return to the port for the overnight ferry.
A very wonderful week-end. Lots of contacts made and hopefully lots of future projects now being hatched.
