On a recent visit to Caen (March 15th) to see friends and colleagues there I made a point of visiting Caen's Place de Portsmouth.
Just as we have Avenue de Caen in Southsea to commemorate our link with Caen, they have Place de Portsmouth.
It is up in the area of Caen near to their impressive museum of peace called Mémorial.
For March the weather was lovely, warm and sunny, compared to the snowy weather here in Portsmouth today.
Here are some of the photos I took of Place de Portsmouth, Caen's Mémorial, Le jardin britannique
Below is Caen's City Hall with Abbaye aux Hommes next to it. That is, as many of your probably are aware the last resting place of part of William the Conqueror's leg. (The rest of him? Well that's another story!)
